How it works.

Qualifying successfully with an agent, a Bettertax pack containing all the information needed is sent together with clear instructions and marked points to help completion of the paperwork. The signed papers are returned in the pre-paid envelope. 

How long does my registration take?

The returned application form is forwarded to HMRC as soon as it's received. If a UTR number has already been issued, it generally takes 6-9 weeks. For PAYE a UTR is applied for by Bettertax, it generally takes 8-12 weeks. 

Then what do I do?

Nothing... Once registered, the Bettertax refund service begins. An issued self-assessment (SA100) will be received in the post, but no action is needed. Simply call and Bettertax gets to work. 

Submission to payout lifecycle is somewhere around 8-12 weeks but this is only an estimate and in some cases it will in fact come through a lot sooner, in others it can take a lot longer.
